How do I sign in?
Press Play, type your email, and choose “Email me a sign-in link”. Open the link from that email and you are in. There is no password to remember.
If a “Continue with Google” button shows, you can use your Google account instead.
Is my progress saved?
Yes. Holtgrove keeps your character, pack and bank, not your browser. Sign in with the same email on any device and you carry on where you left off.
What happens while I am away?
Your character keeps doing their last activity at 10% of the normal pace, for as long as you are gone. Felling and fishing send their catch straight to the bank. Whittling, Hearthkeeping, Roasting and Forging use only what is in your pack, and stop when it runs out, just as they would while you watch.
The pace is fixed at the level and tools you left with. Walking or standing idle earns nothing.
Where do I see what I earned while away?
When you come back after a minute or more, a “Welcome back” card shows how long you were gone, what kept running, and the XP and items you earned.
How do skill chains work?
A skill chain is a list of up to 4 steps that your character works through in order, then starts again from the first. Each step asks for up to 28 of something, for example: fell 6 Scrubpine, fish 20 Mudgill, burn all, roast all.
Inside a chain your catch stays in the pack for the next step instead of going to the bank. A step can also stop at a level or once you have enough of an item.
A chain keeps running while you are away, step by step, at the same away pace as everything else.
Why did my chain stop?
A chain pauses by itself, keeping its steps, when a gathering step starts with a full pack, a step needs a higher level, a step has nothing in the pack to work with, or a whole round made nothing. Starting another activity by hand pauses it too. Fix the cause and start it again.
What happens when my pack is full?
Your pack holds 30 slots. While felling or fishing, a full pack sends your character to the bank to drop off the catch, and then back to work, with no clicks from you.
Can I play on a phone?
Yes. Idleholt runs in your phone’s browser, with nothing to install. Tap where you want to walk, and drag a panel’s top edge to open or close it.
To play fullscreen on an iPhone, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen, and open Idleholt from there.
How fast do skills level up?
The skills guide lists every skill’s XP table, what unlocks at each level, and the best XP per hour, both while you play and while you are away.
